Frequently asked questions

Find answers to common questions about acupuncture, Shiatsu therapy, and what to expect from your treatment at Orlis Healing Point.

What happens during the first consultation?

During your first consultation, we will start with a detailed intake and discussion about your health concerns, symptoms, lifestyle, and overall wellbeing. I will ask questions to get a complete understanding of your situation according to the principles of Chinese Medicine.

After the consultation, you will lie comfortably on the treatment table. I will check your pulse and choose the acupuncture points that are most suitable for your individual needs. The acupuncture needles are then gently inserted, and you will relax with the needles in place for approximately 21 minutes.

After the treatment, we will discuss the treatment plan moving forward.

How long does a treatment take?

The first consultation will take about 75 minutes, follow up treatments usually take about an hour.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture needles are very thin, and most people feel little to no discomfort when they are inserted. You may feel a slight sensation, such as a tingling, which is a normal part of the treatment

Are sterile, single-use needles used?

Yes. I only use sterile, single-use, disposable acupuncture needles. Each needle is used once and safely discarded after the treatment.

What should someone wear or bring?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the treatment areas. It is also helpful to bring any relevant medical information or a list of medications you are taking.

Which concerns do clients commonly seek help with?

Clients often seek acupuncture for concerns such as pain, stress, fatigue, sleep issues, digestive problems, hormonal balance, and overall wellbeing. Each treatment is individually tailored to the person's needs according to Chinese Medicine

Can treatment be reimbursed?

Yes. Acupuncture treatments may be reimbursed by many Dutch health insurance companies through supplementary insurance. Please check your own policy for the exact reimbursement
